I am building a research group at Saint Louis University on natural language processing for event-centric narrative understanding — studying how events become narratives and building transparent systems for comparing those narratives across sources, languages, and media. You do not need experience in every area; useful backgrounds include NLP/ML, linguistics, data science, computer vision, visualization, and computational social science.

Undergraduate & Master’s Research Assistants

SLU undergraduate and master’s students looking for research experience in NLP/AI are welcome to reach out. Projects range from annotating event and framing relations, to evaluating LLMs, to building datasets and visualization tools. Prior research experience helps but is not required; Python, ML/NLP, web development, or languages other than English are all useful.
